Sony Computer Entertainment's chief Ken Kutaragi announced Sony's new prototype design for its latest console, the upcoming Playstation Portable - PSP
Sony are planning to launch the PSP in Japan by the end of this year, and the US launch is Q1 2005.
The PSP will be a disc-based console, utilising Universal Media Discs, which can store up to 1.8GB of data and is about the size of a Gamecube disc.
A typical DVD-Rs hold 4.7GB.
The PSP also features the largest screen on a portable system. It will run at a 480x272 pixel resolution and will have a backlit screen.
The PSP is also compatible with USB 2.0 Facilities making it seem as though the PSP will also be compatible with home pc's and PS2's allowing it endless possibilities. Ken Kutaragi also slyly hinted that it will also be an MP3 player in his statement "The WalKman of the 21st Century".
What is known is that it can be connected to a Sony memory stick allowing more possible save files for you PSP!
No need for battery's either! The PSP comes with its rechargable power pack!
